Man VS. Machine

(By Stacie Ramos)

I recently watched a Ted Talk video presented by Tim Leberecht called “Building a Human Company in the Age of Machines”. While I work in construction and not many “machines” have taken over our labor force, I was intrigued by the teaser statement – “…one of the major disadvantages of machines is the lack of human authenticity and personal relationships.” So I watched the video, I mean there was a convenient link and balloons in the image, who couldn’t press the play button.

I am so glad that I took the time to listen to this presentation. It was an excellent reminder to make sure and continuously pursue a few key things: 1.) create something out of nothing, 2.) be authentic – always and 3.) remain incomplete – acknowledge we all are beings that can continue to learn. Here at SBI I think we strive to be a “human company” providing authenticity to our clients and to our employees. We try to be available, pursue solutions and create something from nothing. Feel free to click the link and watch the video for yourself… and don’t forget to let us know what you think on our Facebook page!
